Part Time

Salary: $1726 Stipend

We are looking for a Coordinator to support local food communities within Hennepin County. Primary responsibilities include:
1) Coordinate the timely collection and deliveries of produce from the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market and Fruits of the City host sites.
2) Recruit, train, and lead volunteers in collecting produce donations from farmer’s market vendors and fruit donation sites.
3) Represent The Food Group and strengthen relationships with farmers market staff, vendors, orchards, and fruit tree owners.
4) Assist with education and outreach to increase community awareness for growing and donating produce/fruit to area food shelves.


Must have transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance.
* Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to manage teams of volunteers.
* Ability to haul equipment and supplies to and from fruit gleaning sites throughout Twin Cities Metro.
* Strong public speaking skills and willingness to represent the program at the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market and public events.
* Experience working collaboratively with different cultural communities.
* Over 18 years old and able to work several hours outside; comfort with bending, standing, squatting, lifting 40 lbs regularly.
* Ability to work independently and stay organized.
* Excellent computer skills.
* Willing to complete a background check.

Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of and interest in issues relating to local foods, hunger relief, and agriculture.
* Knowledge of fruit and vegetable handling, storage, and transportation.
* Knowledge of fruit trees and fruit tree care.
* Previous leadership and volunteer management experience.

We are looking for a commitment from July through October. The Coordinator is expected to be available most Sundays, from 9am to 3pm, throughout the farmer’s market collection season. This is a seasonal contract position.
