And you'll do your life's best work.(sm) The Director, Portfolio Marketing plays a pivotal role in defining the B2B marketing strategy, messaging, and positioning, for the Optum Financial Services Team. The Director is on point to extensively research the Financial Services market space and competitive landscape and coordinate research projects to fill in knowledge gaps. The insights gained through this analysis are leveraged by the Director to craft core messages and content that the Director then socializes across business leadership, product, sales, and key support groups to gain consensus for. The Director works collaboratively with key Product, Sales, and other marketing partners to translate the marketing message into a core suite of materials including but not limited to sales presentations, sell sheets, demos, and online content. These materials are used in sales meetings and demand generation activities.
The Director needs to be a natural self-starter that does not wait for direction but actively seeks out opportunities to enhance the Financial Services marketing strategy and optimize the conversion of sales leads to active deals. This individual will thrive in an ambiguous, fast paced environment and success will be defined by the ability to gain the trust and alignment of core stakeholders. This individual will be equal parts analytical and creative, able to translate complex subjects to easily understood concepts that sales teams and clients/prospects can readily understand. The Director will be naturally curious and understand that great strategies start by asking the right questions. One component of this curiosity is an ability to understand the needs of various client groups. The Director will be able to create messages that resonate with Optum Direct, UnitedHealthcare, Payer, and Government client groups, as well as those that are unique to the Financial Services space like banks, credit unions and other financial institutions. Primary Responsibilities: Owns the strategic marketing planning process: Drives the annual and quarterly product marketing planning process for the respective products assigned to this role.
This includes anticipating and planning around new / remediated products and clinical capability releases, while coordinating with Segment Marketing counterparts to ensure these initiatives are appropriately visible and supported in the broader Optum segment market plans throughout the year Drives the product marketing rollout process: Is responsible for guiding the product rollout process through Optum s go - to - market ACCELERATE process.
The involves: guiding initial - phase market research to test the viability of new product concepts with the marketplace, finalizing product value stories, supporting pre - launch pilot and testing phases, and managing final - stage rollout promotions Manages the value story and message platform for assigned products: This includes keeping marketing content current with fresh and compelling proof - of - value examples, including ROI metrics and clinical impact case studies Generates relevant product awareness in the market: Is responsible for driving all aspects of the thought leadership activities. This includes the creation and marketing of product-specific success stories and client testimonials, white papers, opinion - leader articles, speaking opportunities, and key industry conferences The ability to structure effective marketing messages Strong messaging and narrative development skills, with the ability to lead senior - level stakeholders in creating value themes and stories that position products in a compelling way, differentiate Optum from competitors, and resonate with customers in the market Demonstrated ability to operate as a well-organized and disciplined project leader The ability to balance multiple projects with varying priority, while ensuring project stakeholder accountability, collaboration and timely completion of work is essential Being a natural investigative reporter who champions our customers perspectives This role works closely with financial and operational subject matter experts to identify and translate the value of often complex financial product concepts into easy - to - understand narratives that align with the unmet needs of potential purchasers.
This requires a deep understanding of buyer personas and their purchasing decision processes Required Qualifications: 10+ years of strategic marketing experience, preferably in a large corporate environment 5+ years of health care industry experience, preferably in the insurance and managed care space with a national carrier; experience in the financial services field 5+ years of team leadership experience, working with senior - level business leaders and managing teams Strong understanding of business - to - business sales and marketing dynamics Strong bias to action Careers with Optum.
