Collaborate with ESL staff concerning the development, implementation and evaluation of best practices and instructional strategies for EL students to attain high academic achievement according to District and State Standards. Facilitate ongoing staff, team and individual professional development. Assist in the oversight process of exiting students from the EL program.

:Provides support to schools to assist them in improving outcomes for English Learners and learners in Dual Language Programs.
:Provides instructional leadership by modeling best practices for English Learners.
:Provides teachers with high challenge, high support learning opportunities.
:Aligns their individual work with the mission and vision of the department and the district.
:Collaborates to achieve the strategic goals of the department and district.

:Support district efforts in reaching Acceleration 2020 5:8:10 goals (5 percent annual increase in students overall meeting or exceeding state standards in reading/math; 8 percent annual increase in students meeting or exceeding standards in reading/math for MPS lowest:performing students; 10 percent annual increase in 4:year graduation rate)
:Support district plan of increasing academic outcomes for ELs by;
:Supporting MPS educators in growth mindset and high expectations at both school and District levels.
:Supporting culturally sensitive interaction styles in all District environments.
:Supporting all District efforts to develop global learning and 21st:century skills.
:Promoting growth mindset and asset:based narrative around ELs among all stakeholders.
:Ongoing support for relevant and rigorous classroom instructions.
:Collaborate with Multilingual team to set goals and align work to meet the goals of the Districts Strategic Plan, and the vision and mission of the Multilingual Department
:Conduct site visits to assigned building to collaborate with administrators and ESL staff concerning the development, implementation and evaluation of best practices and instructional strategies for EL students to attain high academic achievement according to district and state standards.
:Collaborate with Teaching and Learning staff to embed effective EL teaching strategies into content curriculum and professional development.
:Provide professional development to teachers and administrators on effective EL teaching strategies, especially focusing on developing academic language, to improve EL students academic achievement.
:Facilitate teams of ESL teachers in defining effective instructional strategies and program models for all levels of EL students both elementary and secondary.
:Assist mainstream, ESL, Bilingual Content and Sheltered Instruction teachers in alignment of curriculum, lesson delivery and collaboration.:/jobdescription:
