Job DescriptionNightOwl Systems Engineer Job DescriptionThe DBA is responsible for supporting internal SQL Servers, resource and AlwaysOn clusters in both a physical and virtualized Windows environment and throughout the entire technology lifecycle. The DBA is responsible for installation, configuration, upgrade and support of internal SQL servers. The DBA must understand the following technologies: active directory, storage area networks, level 2-3 routing/switching (LAN, WAN) and firewalls as they relate to SQL operations and performance.HoursThis role is a salary position, 40 hours per week or more as needed and requires availability on nights, weekends and holidays.This position allows for flexibility in work hours and location. A core of 30 hours per week (between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday) in the office or data center is required.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 databasesEstablish and maintain physical clusters to meet local HA and DR requirementsEstablish and maintain AlwaysOn Availability Groups to meet geographic HACoordinate with SAN engineers to meet DR and archival requirementsEstablish and maintain schedule jobs for archival backup plans, index maintenance and DBCCEstablish and maintain AlwaysOn Availability Groups to meet DBCC requirementsMonitor capacity, utilization and provide timely notice and change management to maintain reliable, high preforming databasesAdditional Occasional Duties and ResponsibilitiesSQL instance installation, configuration and managementSQL dependent software installation, configuration and managementSupport internal users with custom scripts, ETL and other scheduled jobsRestoration of client provided SQL databasesClient / external user support for professional servicesRequired SkillsTimely and accurate documentation is a key required skill set for this position.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field AND 3+ years of experience in the IT field with demonstrated growth in skills and responsibility. OR 5+ years of experience in the IT field with demonstrated growth in skills and responsibilityPreferred CertificationsMCSE: Data Management and AnalyticsMCSE: Data PlatformMicrosoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)Project management and business analysis certification preferableAbility to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism and client service orientationHighly developed organizational skills and attention to detailHighly developed decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage time and resources to meet or exceed established service level agreementsExcellent written and verbal communication skills to enable effective and professional communication with clients, colleagues, and vendorsCommitment to deliver the highest quality service to internal shareholders and external customersLocation and SalaryWayzata, MN officeCompensation DOQ.
