Position Overview:Designs new core and flagship products for manufacture. This position creates user experiences and design language that are informed by research on product use, marketing, and manufacturability to create the most functional and appealing product design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The Industrial Designers - II job duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Design innovative products and take the designs from concept through implementation.

• Capability to create and visually communicate complex ideas through sketches, illustrations, and computer models and assemblies

• Can clearly structure and articulate various aspects of the design with utilization of a 2d layout program

• Knows and understands Kuryakyn products and products offered by competitors.

• Knows the New Product Development process and the process of design.

• Learns, teaches and incorporates best practices on design-related area such as trends, color,materials/processes, or CAID.

• Understands the consumer, specifically in the motorcycle space, so that functional aspects can be considered along with aesthetic needs and cost objectives.

• Deep understanding of a broad range of manufacturing methods

• Contributes to accomplishing the day-to-day activities of the Industrial Design department.

• Ability to core level and more complex ID assignments; while making appropriate decisions with minimal guidance

• Collaborates with and mentors less experienced Industrial Designers other team members.

• Ability to generate nuanced and advanced form language/geometry through computer modeling

• Communicate all Industrial Design specifications and maintain design integrity throughout the development process.

• Engages in the motorcycle industry by reading publications, attending industry events, and has an in depth understanding of marketplace trends

• With minimal guidance, can comfortably present designs to management for approval, anddemonstrates flexibility to align designs based on stakeholder feedback

• Works effectively with all new product development departments, especially Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, in a team atmosphere.

• Demonstrates hands on ability to prototype and evaluate efficacy of designs.

• Communicates with engineering team and manufacturer to aid in the refinement of designs

• Evaluates feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function,serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.

• Engages with category management in ideation and other activities and helps to influence scope shaping activities


• Portfolio demonstrates a good eye for aesthetics, design talent and natural ability.

• Experience includes successfully taking products to market

• Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) in ID or related field

• Demonstrated ability in bringing products from inception to market

• 4-8 years related experience.

• 3D Computer Skills: advanced user in SolidWorks or comparable program

• 2D Computer Skills: Powerpoint, Adobe Illustrator, Indesign or comparable layout software

• Solid capabilities with using the Microsoft office suite
