The Total Cost Engineer will manage projects related to cost improvement for the Global Strategic Supply Team. This role will be responsible for leading TCOS (Total Cost of Sales) projects as well as performing total cost analysis for each project that includes material price, transportation, mfg. labor and overhead, inventory and distribution costs. This role will work cross functionally internally as well as externally with suppliers to identify total cost saving opportunities through a variety of activities to enable to Global Strategic Supply Team to meet annual savings goals and objectives.
:The Total Cost Engineer will lead several projects concurrently and will operate with a great deal of latitude for unreviewed action and decision while still being accountable for overall results of specific project(s) as well as the annual goals and objectives.
:Develop and manage project plans from inception to completion and provide monthly updates utilizing Tennant Project Management and reporting tools and templates.
:Be open to paradigm shifting concepts, designs and ideas that drive total cost improvement
:Execute the project plan in cooperation and collaboration with all affected global functions including prototypes, and production implementation.
:Utilize appropriate design tools and processes for all projects.
:Responsible for the technical accuracy of any/ all design work related to total cost projects in partnership with the Global CPE and/or R and D Engineering team.
:Apply Tennant, Industry and Regulatory standards to TCOS driven design
:Keep up to date on engineering techniques, processes and best practices.
:Utilize lean tools and processes for Total Cost Management project organization and reporting
:Provide analysis and information regarding the total COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) Profit and Loss Statement line impact for each projects for each business unit / region affecting
:Develop and deliver total cost reports that provide in:depth information on end to end business costs of assigned projects including warranty and quality
:Understand and Utilize the Total Cost financial model to evaluate the cost effectiveness / validity of all TCOS projects and initiatives.
:Collaborate with customer facing functions to identify cost / margin challenged finished goods and purchased finished goods and provide path to improvement
:Host Total Cost events with internal and external participants that provide ideas / inputs to the Total Cost Management System Funnel
:Ability to handle a variety of projects and initiatives simultaneously
:Ability to develop strategies relating to global total cost management in partnership with commodity managers
:10:15 travel required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION
:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial and/or Mechatronic Engineering from ABET accredited institution
