The underwriting intern will be responsible for assisting Underwriters with processing Client renewals and proposals, rating benefit changes, completing Client ERISA 5500 reports, and other projects for Clients with over 50 eligible employees. The intern in this position needs to be able to work with many different types of people and be able to adapt to different situations using analytical and problem:solving skills.
INTERN WILL LEARN AND BE EXPOSED TO:
Real world knowledge of working with clients and internal customers
Hands on experience working with Health Care products and their design and implementation
Interact with Underwriters, Actuaries, Account Managers, and other Blue Cross staff
:Research client, member and benefit data using a variety of tools and software including Microsoft Office / Excel
:Produce Client reports and rating output
:Assist in finalizing enrollment settlements
Junior or Senior with a Math, Statistics, Finance or Liberal Arts major
Must be motivated, organized, and possess strong communication skills
20 hours per week around interns schedule during the academic year; up to 40 hours per week during the summer
Preferred Requirements 13;
:Previous experience helpful but not necessary.
