New position being added as part of a growing team dedicated to enhancing and expanding the companys Trend Analytic capabilities This team will focus on analyzing monthly cost and utilization trends, determining specific drivers of upward trend pressure (or opportunities to exert downward pressure), and liaising with the business to determine action:oriented next steps. This team will be the Central Hub to work with other analytics teams across the organization. This position applies broad actuarial principles to develop solutions to variable situations in the areas of health insurance. Independent analysis and problem resolution are often required. Presents results of analysis and recommendations to management and other departments. Provide divisional representation or lead role on corporate projects. Actuarial judgement is required.
:Research, analyze and interpret actuarial and statistical data and provide technical assistance to other departments. This includes identifying issues to be researched, determining affected areas, estimating the impact and leading the resolution.
:Develop mathematical models in connection with other departments to predict impact of proposed changes. May also be involved in the design of these models.
:Understand/interpret the financial impact of decisions made by retrieving and analyzing claim costs, revenue and/or other relevant data.
:Coordinate the design and implementation of new as well as enhancement of existing trend analyses and reports in order to identify cost and trend drivers and provide actionable data and recommendations.
:Coordinate analysis of cost and trend drivers with analytic teams across the organization.
:Act as liason to other departments/divisions in order to drive action on identified cost and trend issues. Responsible for divisional representation on corporate projects and may have leadership roles on these teams.
:Independently manage, which may include directing other staff, the retrieval and analysis of data on multiple tasks or projects with little or no management involvement.
:Act as a resource for other members of the department/division on business issues and may be responsible for training and guidance of Actuarial support personnel or Analysts.
:Other specific accountabilities as assigned by management.
:Bachelors degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or related field and 5 years of experience in statistical analysis or actuarial work, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
:ASA or above.
:Strong oral and written communication skills.
:Excellent PC skills.
:Knowledge of data retrieval languages.
